Colonel Neelakantan Jayachandran Nair (popularly known as "NJ" ) was one of the excellent and designed authorities of the Native indian Military. Nair requested into 16 Maratha Mild Infantry on 18 July 1971. In 1993, 16 Maratha Mild Infantry was implemented in Nagaland. 20 Dec 1993 while going an enhance celebration of the battalion, his convoy was ambushed by Naga rebels. Col NJ Nair shown indomitable bravery in major the strike individually to crack the wait and given up his lifestyle protecting his men.
